http://www.westelm.com/products/paper-mache-bird-a945/?pkey=cdecorative-objects
im thinking about making some crafts to sell on an etsy shop.  i made a print for madision and i've edited some photos in a cool way.  maybe i could sell those?  i suppose you can use anything and make it a photo at walmart? maybe i could make cards.  how cool would it be to whittle.  i want to do that!  perhaps i could knit some also.  i just don't have original ideas.

where can i buy food locally?

oatmeal, apples, carrots, broccoli, milk, eggs, cheese, bread, potatoes, honey

yarnicks grows veggies like cucumber, lettuce, peppers, carrots and such.  you can also get beef

i have to check into this because i really dont know

vote

Politics is not something that appeals to me.  I know i should vote for president, but i do not know enough information to make an educated decision.  so i don't vote.

but i just heard of an easier way to vote and change the world.  grocery shopping.  companies produce what consumers want.  i want locally grown food.  not genetically modified.  with less packaging.  without chemicals.  from healthy and happy farmers and plants and animals

every time you checkout at the grocery store, you are voting

different

I feel like I am constantly thinking of ways to save money, eat healthier, use less disposable things - I just want to be simple.  People before electricity still had fun.  Why do I need tv.  Sure i like tv sometimes.  But i don't need it.  I keep thinking about having lights out times.  where nothing (other than the fridge and oven and water heater?) is plugged in or turned on.  Really it doesn't get dark enough to need lights until 830 at night. and getting up at 6 is still light.  even not flushing sometimes.  why does toilet water have to be so clean? can't i pee and flush in rainwater.  can't i fill my laundry washer with shower water or rain water?  can't i get all my used shower water to run through a pipe to be used in laundry? why can't i?  i want to be different.  i don't want a tv.  i want to use candles.  not for scents.  candles for light.

not that id give up everything.  i like a flushing toilet and a machine to get the dirty water off my laundry, and cooking in the microwave and eating cold food.  i just want to consume less by reusing and reducing and recycling.

i want to be different and change the world.

remembered

i remembered my resuable bags to take to the grocery store.  i remembered the few plastic bags to recycle at the grocery store.  i remembered my list.  i remembered my tape measure in case i went to goodwill to look for a skinny table.  i remembered my checks i was going to put in the bank.  i remembered to sign them.  i remembered my lunch from the fridge and my water.  i remembered the one coupon i had.  i remembered my boss was leaving early today so i'd be the last to leave.

but i forgot my wallet which had my money in, and my bank card, and my office key.

oregano, parsley and basil

I am really worried about my herbs.  i worry they aren't getting enough sun, are too wet, not wet enough, don't have good enough drainage.  they keep looking the same or worse.  basil with shriveling leaves near the top.  i think im supposed to pick near the top.  oregano is pick on the outside near the bottom and parsley is near the bottom i think.  i wish i would have only bought one herb at a time.  i keep reading stuff online but i get more confused.  ....... boo......

marker board

well the glass desk top with light fabric underneath is working really well.  i've been planning meals and summer music lessons and then wiping them away.  also the small table in my lesson studio works well for covering up worksheets and the students can write the answers on and wipe them away too.  no paper!

now i just wish menu planning and lesson scheduling would be easier.

to compost or not?

I think i'd like to try to compost my food scraps.  Im not a fan of worms so i don't know if i'd use those.  my fear is that it will attract bugs.  i really don't like bugs.  i guess i have to do more research

lunchables

today's lunch was leftovers - red and white potatoes (came in a plastic bag), zucchini and yellow squash, and carrots (came in a plastic bag) all cooked on the grill (in foil).  i packed them in a glass container.  also cheese (came in a plastic wrap - but i cut it up myself instead of using single packaged cheese sticks) (kept in a many-times-reused ziploc) (i suppose i should cut up the cheese and put it in a jar and take to work in cloth).  last was a hunk of bread brought and bought in its plastic bag - thought it did last about a month and i plan to use the bag to put produce in.  to drink i had water in my reusable cup.

i typed this all up and it all got deleted.  grr.  not a great first start.
